Keeping aside the issues related to wearability, Alexander McQueen’s ‘Armadillo ‘ boots are the most iconic shoes ever created by a visionary designer.
The shoes were first created for the spring/summer 2010 Plato’s Atlantis show but only 21 were ever made, making them a very rare find for the avid fashion fan.
The shoe gets its name from the shell like appearance and exaggerated silhouette which was designed to give the illusion of a ballerina standing on point and caused a sensation when they were first released.
Now, there’s a chance to get your hands on a pair as three new editions have been created and will be auctioned off to raise money for Unicef’s relief efforts in Nepal.
The boots will appear in Christies Handbag and Accessories auction which begins today and ends next Thursday christies.com . The auction will also include collectible pieces from the likes of Chanel, Hermes and Louis Vuitton.
