#STOPIT, All About Kakcho, Stop It!

We live in a strange universe, ladies and gentlemen: a universe where some human beings think it’s acceptable and even sane to call anyone “fat.” Kate Winslet is known for her roles in the epic movies like TITANIC, SENSE, AND SENSIBILITY, QUILLS etc. She also received many awards for her breakthrough performances and is a SEVEN TIME nominee for THE OSCARS. This timeless beauty was also body shamed and she proved the world how to rise above such stupid things in a world called “BODY SHAMING”.

The Oscar-winning actress and Titanic star Kate Winslet continue to speak out against childhood bullying, using her own experience of being bullied in school to try to give hope to victims. “I had been bullied at school,” she said. “They called me Blubber. Teased me for wanting to act. Locked me in the cupboard. Laughed at me.”

“I was even told that I ‘might be lucky with my acting if I was happy to settle for the fat girl parts,'” Kate Winslet said. “I felt that I wasn’t enough, I wasn’t good enough. I didn’t look right…and all because I didn’t fit into someone else’s idea of ‘perfect.’ I didn’t have the perfect body.”And then one day, I was cast as Rose in Titanic,” she said. “The most unlikely candidate, Kate from the sandwich shop in Reading, suddenly acting in one of the biggest movies ever made!”

Sadly, it’s not the first time the actress has spoken out about being fat-shamed. In an emotional interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Winslet revealed that on the set of Titanic director James Cameron called her “Kate Weighs-A-Lot”. “It is possible to overcome your fears,” Winslet added. “I learned to embrace my flaws, to make no apology for who I am. I dug deep, and I decided that I simply wouldn’t listen when they said my body didn’t fit.”

Well said, Kate!

This badass woman will always be there to inspire us with her beauty as well as her movies. All we can say from these articles that we should do stand up for body shaming, this is not anything called “normal” what we think is. We here in INDIA think that it is better to be quiet than to speak over it coz of the fear “what will people/society say”.

We need to stop this at this very moment, and we can do that by making people who shame others realise how this affects life of those who go through this and how dangerous it is for their minds and bodies both to be body shamed just because they don’t land into the definition of beauty and perfection set by the society.

For this, we ask people to come together by taking up a challenge and accepting their mistake in front of the world. Take up this #Mirchichallenge and take a pledge that you ‘ll never body sham, anyone.
